The Southport Historical Society supports local students
Honoring local Southport historian and co-founder of the society, Susie Carson
Each year the Southport Historical Society offers a $2,000 academic scholarship for a graduating senior from South Brunswick High School continuing their education at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. One thousand dollars ($1,000) will be paid in each of the first two years of enrollment, and students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the award in the second year. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university when full-time enrollment is verified.
How to Apply
Each winter the scholarship application is updated with new essay topics based on local history.
Applications are due April 4th, 2025. You may submit your application and essay directly online here.
Applicants and the school counselors will be notified in early May.
Note: We suggest use of the Susie Carson Research Database as a place to start researching your essay topic. Please feel free to contact us at info@southporthistoricalsociety.org for questions or assistance in using the database.
